Do not go to the bookstore alone.
Why would you?
I know you wouldn’t.
Take this as a warning then;
My book list is longer than my life expectancy, you know that better than me.
So sit with me, as I tell you about my expeditions into worlds I had while sitting wrapped into a blanket.
when I tell you about the wonders the yellowing pages of the books I brought from the garage sales from a place in the town you hadn’t heard of, please believe.
When my glazed over eyes won’t stop from babbling about my yule ball and the costume I fit into and how I danced with ron(yes he ditched Parvati), please smile and hold my hand.
Its okay, go, grab a cup of coffee. But please return. I haven’t told you of my days in the arena where hunger was not the only game.
Oh, you returned.
So where was I? Yeah, I’m sorry. Did you get through the lost symbol? HA YOU WERE SHOCKED TOO! LIKE SHOCKED LIKE THE LAND UNDER YOUR FEET GONE AND YOU FALLING IN A VOID OF WONDER WITH YOUR ARMS FLAYING AS IF THERE ARE WINGS THAT WERE DESTINED TO FLY.
yeah, I get that feeling a lot.
You’ll be delighted to know that I went through the great expectations in less than one day.
I once won a bet of reading gone with the wind in less than two days. No, I’m not showing off.
Or maybe a little.
Should I tell you a secret?
I read books on the eve of exams, specifically math.
HA!
You’re not surprised, Umm why?
You are saying you expected me to read a book when a earthquake is happening too, let alone one day before midterms.
So let me wrap myself around in a page burrito, and tell you about my love for the ink, that drenches me in the living glow of a survivor.
Let me sip my coffee, as my red nose tired from sipping coffee, tell you about my time in the Library of New York Institute.
You just asked, new books?
I screamed NEW BOOKS!
We picked up our scrarfs, tied them around our necks, and the warmth that seeped my bones reminded me of the yellowing papers that I’ve held close to my chest for too long.
You take my hand, and
OFF WE GO!
To the bookstore.
I again tell you, as your step falls beside mine, with an eyebrow raised,
Do not go to the bookstore alone.
Do not.
You smile like Simon, with your chocolate brown eyes, and oh, I’m convinced, you won’t.
Oh my god! This is so beautifully written. I loved each and every line. Your words are so lively, magical and warm. Wow! Thank you for this.❤️

This piece had me in stitches, Paridhi. Your sense of humour is wonderful and it’s so beautifully well written and flowing. I love the sound of your reading list – mine is probably not quite that long (given my age and my current life expectancy!). I’m so glad I popped over to you blog. 😀

Is this written by a piece of my soul in someone else’s body? I’m like you, dude- I don’t need meth, pot or alcohol- just give me a book and you’ll have me flying high. This was an eloquent piece, I must add.
